For one unaccustomed to sun exposure more than a few minutes can result in a painful burn. Repeated exposure may result in scars on your hide, often on your face, where the surgeon has had to excise malignant melanomas.

When I lived in HI I saw and knew many haoles who spent a lot of time in the sun - especially surfers, and some lifeguards. At least three still in my acquaintance are dealing with skin cancer. And wooee - the wrinkles! I cannot handle direct sun, just burns/peels/burns/peels so while living there I totally gave up trying to tan or be in the sun, I used a huge hat or even parasol.

I have hardly any wrinkles....

All you extreme honkies have to acclimate to the sun. You can’t just jump out into summer sun in FL. I see it everyday. Some white azz German got him/herself beet red, then walking through the grocery trying not to let their arms touch their sides. Racoon eyes from shades. LOL.

As for myself I get a solid 3-4 hours shitless on Saturdays and Sundays from about 8-12. The Injun in me doesn’t let me burn. Thank goodness that gene overrode the Irish gene.
