Hillary Clinton is upstaged by Kim Kardashian in a clip from her upcoming Apple TV+ series, Gutsy. While competing in a legal knowledge quiz, Clinton — who has a Yale law degree — gets creamed by Kardashian — who took four tries to pass California’s baby bar exam.
In a clip from Gutsy shared with People, Clinton faces off against Kardashian in a battle of the wits, but ends up facing a tough 11-4 loss.
Before taking the quiz, Clinton expresses doubts. “I think Kim has an unfair advantage,” she says in the episode previewed by People, while Chelsea Clinton — her Gutsy collaborator and that day’s quizmaster — agrees, telling her mom, “Kim has studied more recently than you.”
After getting annihilated by Kardashian, Clinton blamed on her loss on “reaction time” while hitting the buzzer to answer questions.
“It was heartbreaking,” Clinton told People, while Chelsea added, “[Hillary] needs to work on her reaction time. Sometimes I could see my mom knew what the answer was but she wouldn’t hit the buzzer in time.”
Hillary explained that she was “really intrigued” by “how well” Kardashian performed in the quiz, adding, “I wanted to put the spotlight on her, not that she needs it. But she worked really hard to get that.” When People asked Clinton let if she Kardashian win, she denied it.
The rough loss is just one of the vulnerable Clinton moments featured in Gutsy, an upcoming series in which Hillary and Chelsea meet brave women and learn their stories while sharing their own experiences. Yesterday, Apple TV+ shared the first trailer for the show, which included a moment where Hillary offered honest reflection about her marriage.
During a conversation with Rev. Whittney Ijanaten, Hillary said her choice to stay married to Bill Clinton through his sex scandal was her “gutsiest” decision, but admitted, “That doesn’t mean that’s right for everybody.”
