Russia threatens to stop Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest in Europe.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to RIA News, this was announced by the head of the radiation, chemical, and biological defense forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ihor Kyrylov.

"We draw your attention to the fact that if the situation related to the shelling of the nuclear plant by Ukraine continues to deteriorate, the issue of withdrawing power units 5 and 6 to the "cold reserve" may be considered, which will lead to the shutdown of the Zaporizhzhia NPP," he emphasized.

Also remind, that the Zaporizhzhia NPP in Enerhodar has been occupied by Russian troops since March 4.

The station continues to work under the leadership of "Energoatom" on the energy system of Ukraine, but not at full capacity, because many lines around it are damaged. Communication with the staff is available around the clock. At the same time, the occupiers fully control security at the ZNPP: personnel access to workplaces, passage/exit to the station. Workers report regular cases of abuse by Russians against them. In particular, employees were deprived of access to the shelter.

Recently, the Russian military has been consistently shelling the territory of the station. "Energoatom" warns that the shelling is being carried out to destroy the infrastructure, disconnect it from the energy system of Ukraine, and cut off electricity in the south of our country. Talks about reconnecting the ZNPP to the RF power grid were conducted by the occupiers from the beginning.

On August 8, the occupiers announced that they were demining the Zaporizhzhia NPP and that they were ready to blow it up. Ukraine sent letters to the UN and the IAEA with the demand to send a security mission to the ZNPP.

On August 11, New York held a meeting of the UN Security Council regarding the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The meeting was called at the request of Russia due to shelling of the ZNPP allegedly by the Ukrainian military.

The representative of Ukraine called for demilitarization of the station for the visit of the IAEA mission, but the permanent representative of the Russian Federation did not support this proposal. They said that Russia "protects the nuclear power plant", including from possible terrorist attacks.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that the trip of the IAEA delegation to the Zaporizhzhia NPP via Kyiv and then across the contact line was dangerous. Support Censor.NET Share:

The alternative is reactor meltdown and Chernobyl-style event due to Ukrainian shelling of the station’s cooling pumps.

Don’t you see the contradiction in your own propaganda?
How can one control and shell facility at the same time?

The goal is to insert UN/NATO troops as ‘peacekeepers’ to protect the plant and eventually stop the war.

It won’t happen.

The Russian military says they have intel that the Ukrainians plan to blow the cooling pumps in concert with the UN chief visit.
They published the map of possible contamination all the way West up to Berlin.
If anything, I am perfectly okay with it. The Euros fed the little dictator Zelensky, now it is time for chicken to come home to roost.

I guess if they shut off the nuke, they’ll have to use the natural gas transiting Ukraine for power in the liberated areas of Ukraine.

...sorry Europe.

The NATO Secretary General called for allowing the IAEA to inspect the nuclear power plant and withdraw the Russian military from there
Wednesday, August 17, 2022, 18: 03
https://www.eurointegration.com.ua/news/2022/08/17/7145144/

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the presence of the Russian military at the Zaporizhia NPP creates great risks and called for demilitarizing the plant and allowing the IAEA inspection there as soon as possible.

According to” European truth”, he said this at a joint press conference with the Serbian president on August 17.

“The seizure of Zaporizhia NPP by Russian forces poses a serious threat to the safety of this facility, increases the risk of an incident or accident and threatens the population of neighboring countries and the international community as a whole. We need to immediately make it possible to inspect the International Atomic Energy Agency and ensure the withdrawal of all Russian forces,” Jens Stoltenberg said.

Recall that the situation at the ZAES on August 18 should be discussed at a meeting in Lviv by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey.

The situation in the occupied ZAES worsened after the Russian invaders shelled the station’s territory twice a day on August 5. First, 3 arrivals were recorded near an industrial site – the enemy hit a high-voltage line. Subsequently, the Russians hit the ZAES with MLRS, hitting shells near one of the power units.

42 COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD CALLED ON RUSSIA TO WITHDRAW THE MILITARY FROM ZAPOROZHYE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT.

RUSSIA REFUSES TO COMPLY with the calls of both Ukraine and the international community to demilitarize the nuclear power plant and blames Ukraine for the shelling.

The United Nations said it could facilitate the visit of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to Zaporizhia from Kiev, but Russia said any mission that passes through the Ukrainian capital is too dangerous.”

“They published the map of possible contamination all the way West up to Berlin. If anything, I am perfectly okay with it.”

Europe seems to want a meltdown, since they could stop the shelling in 5 minutes...so not Russia’s fault if they’ll glow in the dark because of it.

This article seems to me to be nonsense.

It would be problematic but perhaps in light of Ukrainian shelling of the plant it would be best to shut it down to a state where it could not create a nuclear catastrophe if it was razed to the ground, if it is even possible to do that.

Shutting a power plant of this size down to a safe condition just has to be a big f’n deal to accomplish.

One of your sources say that the Russians stored ammunition at the station and use it as a base to shell Ukrainian positions. That’s of course a lie but supposed to to make grounds to explain the “return fire” as legit.

Another story says the Russians are shelling the station themselves.

Which story is true and which is false? Both can’t be true at the same time.

Would you explain why can’t they disconnect the electricity by more conventional ways?

What sort of idiots are supposed to buy this crap, except Blinken?

I think that was WSJ

It’s not possible. Even at cold shutdown coolant must still be circulated. If the grid is damaged to the point that power cannot be supplied to the plant generator power is the final backup. Once the fuel for the backup generators is exhausted the real fun begins.

Who cares? All of the above is a flat out lie.

There is a small contingent of Russian forces on the premises for guard duties to prevent sabotage by the Ukrainian SOF, of which there were multiple attempts.

There is no ammo dump and no artillery because they make no sense whatsoever.

The station is under full Russian control since March.

Everybody understands who does the shelling. It is the little unhinged clown in Kiev who is okay with blowing up Europe just to start WWIII for fun.

There is also a power grid to feed pumps but you can’t underestimate idiots who can destroy all the lines as well.

How does it contradict my point and what power IAEA have to remove them?:)

Do you think nuclear terror and taking the whole of Europe hostage are good means to bring the station back under Ukrainian control?

How is it different from bin Laden? Bin Laden is a piker compared to Ze.

If you read the article (I know FR heresy) it says the grid around the plant is already damaged. Not much of a jump to incoming power being down.
