I’m guessing it was put out in the streets by its original owner because it made a mess of its house. As cute as animals are, when they start to wreck your house, it ceases to be cute. Even the new owner stated he was making a mess of his house and shredded his bedsheets.
Some pet shop animals are compulsive Mess-Makers.
I have two parakeets. They’re cage is a pig sty with torn up plants and paper. Next door live a pair of Zebra Finches; a Proven Pair, by the way. Their cage remains relatively as neat as a pin. So long as there is no nesting material put inside!
Even so, I’m so glad that they both happened to be in the same place at the same time. It’s like they were meant to meet. Very heartwarming, even to a cranky old goat like me.
Btw, DJ: I’ve seen the earless cottontail again since I FReepmailed you. Looked perfectly healthy, just no ears. I’m leaning more and more toward the theory that he was born without them. :-)
