FBI, R.I.P.?
American Greatness ^ | 10 Aug, 2022 | Victor Davis Hanson

The agency has become dangerous to Americans and an existential threat to their democracy and rule of law.

The FBI is dissolving before our eyes into a rogue security service akin to those in Eastern Europe during the Cold War.

Take the FBI’s deliberately asymmetrical application of the law. This week the bureau surprise-raided the home of former President Donald Trump—an historical first.

A massive phalanx of FBI agents swooped into the Trump residence while he was not home, to confiscate his personal property, safe, and records. All of this was over an archival dispute of presidential papers common to many former presidents. Agents swarmed the entire house, including the wardrobe closet of the former first lady.

Note we are less than 90 days out from a midterm election, and this was not just a raid, but a political act.

The Democratic Party is anticipated to suffer historical losses. Donald Trump was on the verge of announcing his 2024 presidential candidacy. In many polls, he remains the Republican front-runner for the nomination—and well ahead of incumbent Joe Biden in a putative 2024 rematch.

In 2016 then FBI Director James Comey announced that candidate Hillary Clinton was guilty of destroying subpoenaed emails—a likely felony pertaining to her tenure as secretary of state. Yet he all but pledged that she would not be prosecuted given her status as a presidential candidate.

As far as targeting presidential candidates, Donald Trump was impeached in 2020 ostensibly for delaying military aid to Ukraine by asking Ukrainian officials to investigate more fully the clearly corrupt Biden family—given Joe Biden at the time was a likely possible presidential opponent in 2020.

The FBI has devolved into a personal retrieval service for the incorrigible Biden family. It suppressed, for political purposes, information surrounding Hunter Biden’s

“”The FBI should be dispersing its investigatory responsibilities to other government investigative agencies that have not yet lost the public trust.””

Prof.VDH, I have a hard time identifying such federal agencies at this point in America’s existence.

Well, it was created to enforce one of the grandest failures in American history, the 18th Amendment, also known as the Volstead Act.

Sort of. The history is complicated, but that's where the bureau got its power. J. Edgar Hoover, though, was a political policeman from the start, hunting first for German sympathizers, and then for Reds and anarchists.

I’m sick of hearing how most FBI agents are decent people. No they’re not.

Same thing that happened to the CIA should happen to the FBI. Arrest the goons.

Although now scrubbed from the internet, I can at least quickly attest to 700 CIA being arrested in February by the fact that Politifact says it is NOT true - therefore it is.

Politifact: No, 700 CIA agents weren’t arrested

Yes, I tuned in a couple of nights ago, just to hear what he had to say about the FBI.

He said after this, he believes that 95% of agents are basically good instead of 99%. Not kidding.

It shouldn’t be but a bunch of milquetoast lightweights won’t accomplish anything.

Perhaps, the FBI really did it this time, and went a bridge too far. It is not like they have not already given fair warning of the tactics to be used, since those tactics were used in a similar manner against Roger Stone and Peter Navarro, but it is the act of burning the bridge after crossing it, giving themselves no line of retreat or “walking it back”. Naked power grabs are similar the world over.

FBI = becoming the jackbooted government thugs they have been accused of being over 25 years ago. Famous But Incompetent.

Deep state relic Kevin McCarthy will not kill the FBI. You are dreaming if you think this is possible.

First it would take abandoning the continuing resolution and returning to the regular order of budgets, and a budget for the Justice Department with a big ZERO line.

Then it would require saying “take it or leave it” to doddering Joe.

And THEN withstanding the howls and rapprochement of the media and twitterverse.

Not. A. Chance. Squish boy Kevin is not the one.

I agree.

What is it we say when there is a turning point:

THEY JUMPED THE SHARK!!

I feel that is what is happening.

We know the FBI had evolved into the enforcement arm for THE PARTY, a Democrat Stasi in the same manner the IRS has become a their KGB.

Sometimes in history, there are moments that are described as “tipping points” or maybe “The straw that broke the camel’s back”.
I cannot help but wonder if this latest bit of Kabuki by the Stasi will be one of those moments.

We do not know who the agents were?
Do other agents..who did not take part..do they know who they are.
I guess what I’m asking ..is there some good guys on the inside figuring out who the bad agents are?

Wow. I am a devotee of his work, I admire Victor Davis Hanson, and to hear a man who is normally quite level and congenial speaking in this way really made me take notice.

And he is 100% correct. The FBI needs to be overhauled if not dismantled. It is no different than the East German Stasi right now.

Shameful.

I have been saying for a while that the FBIAS has become more of a danger to the citizens than what they pretend to protect us from.

Considering the fact that virtually NONE of our government agencies are now trustworthy, the DemocRATs will have to actively remove our one means of retaliation (feggedabowdt voting). Expect gun raids.

Thus far, the only reputable, honest FBI agents to be seen
are those who once worked for this agency in the long ago
tee vee series, “I LED THREE LIVES”.
A DONKEY POX on this motley crew of rogues and heathens.
