I think this was a clean up job, as the FBI had been negotiating file dumps at Mar a Lago in June. What they want is to check whatever documents he has on spygate and russiahoax.
Trump’s probably locked them in some room in Las Vegas or something.

One lawyer has a video speculating that he may have taken docs regarding assassinations of JFK and RFK, which implicate the whole DOJ as being complicit. He took it to use as a “dead man’s switch” to be released if anything happens to him.
DOJ knows it, and they want it back.
