That's my best guess. They risked alot for..well...nothing. The only thing they get out of it now, is blowback from the public. They want a big, ugly public response they can portray as 'dangerous'. No doubt Antifa's out there now, ready to stage something.
Cause and effect - they must have wanted the public to react in a way that Biden could enact martial law or other restrictions against voting in public.
And it’s only going to get worse as the elections draw nearer, and the primaries continue to show them potentially taking a shellacking.
People need to be prepared. For real at this point.

That tactic COULD just be bit a mistake if the reaction is way more than the 35,000 FBI employees can handle. That’s total, not armed agents.
