Adam 12 here. Half the reason is for all the classic cars....and it’s a reminder of when society was actually mostly civil and the police were allowed to actually enforce the law.
There was an episode where was a tip was made that someone might try to board a flight with a gun, so they decided to wand all passengers before boarding. People freely walked around everywhere.
It must have been a great time to fly.
