**45 years ago my line was, “Do you like to sail?”**

My first line to my bride was 45 yrs ago this coming Sept 30th, at approx 11 pm.

At a bar, looking across a crowded room, I spied an attractive girl with a couple of her friends. I decided that if I would catch her looking at me more than once, then I would approach and try to engage in conversation. I quickly thought of a line I’d never used or heard; walked up, and delivered it:

“Hi, I was wondering if I should wait for you to drop a handkerchief, or just walk up and start talking?”

She said, “Well, you are doing pretty good so far.”

And it appears that I’m still doing pretty good. She’s been marvelous!
