MOBILE, Ala (WPMI) — By now you've likely seen the flurry of ads targeting veterans and their families who served at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Thousands of lawsuits are expected to be filed, decades after toxic water poisoned families there. One Mobile woman NBC 15 News spoke with believes that exposure caused her cancer.
In 2015, Sherry Weatherford received a surprising and unsettling diagnosis: stage 2 lung cancer.

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act passed the Senate Tuesday and is headed to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
Do you know anybody who spent time at Camp Lejeune?
People could file a claim under this Act...
I was at Lejeune for three years. No adverse effects or anything. I’ve filled out the questionnaire and now just wish I could stop the ads for this lawsuit. Hopefully those affected will get a big settlement.
Sadly the lawyers will get the biggest chuck of money.
I was at Montford Point before shipping out to RVN. I’ve had cancer twice in the last ten years and have been treated successfully at UNC. I am avoiding the VA. I prefer to live. They talk a good game, but...
if this Camp Lejeune thing is real, my brother has two shyster lawyer sons....
I think that will happen in this case...
I am not a big fan of trial lawyers...But, sometimes, trial lawyers have to threaten to file lawsuits to get things done...
I’m getting non stop email add everyday from the attorneys.
Meant solicitation ads.
There have been so many class-action adverts about this suddenly running on TV this summer that you’d think half the US is eligible for a settlement.
Exactly. Lawyers get their “substantial” cut first. I had to interview a woman in Arizona who used to watch a lot of late night TV. She saw an ad about some machine the hospitals were using to treat their patients. She called the number. Then in her words, she won a settlement for 2.6 million bucks in a California court without ever having to leave home. I asked her how much she got. She got just over 900 grand. The lawyers got the rest. She showed me the paperwork. Freaked me out.
I think those TV ads are necessary...I think a lot of people were trained in Camp Lejeune between 1953 and 1987...
I need that big $0.27 class action check!
Because law firms are recruiting clients
BTTT
my emails are being blown up about this lawsuit.
we never lived there .
My brother in law, a career marine, was stationed there beginning in 1953. My sister and her two daughters who were two and four years old lived on base at the time with him. In 1997, my niece was diagnosed with breast cancer at 46 years old, six months later her sister was diagnosed with brain cancer at 49 years old, who died a year later. It has always been a mystery that two sisters both developed cancer at the same time. After seeing these commercials, it may be the answer.
