Communist propaganda is based on the supposition that your audience knows that you are lying and expects you to lie, and an alternative, “dissident” belief is being crafted, which is what the propagandists really wanted you to believe. It’s pretty clever, and it’s the method of propaganda that Putin was schooled in during his KGB days. But we’ll have to parse this particular example. I don’t see an alternative narrative to the lie that the hoi polloi are supposed to believe instead. It’s pretty straightforward outright lies.
