Curious as to the point of this recurring practice.

Well I have done it, but it was to make an additional point and out of convenience I just replied to my post.
So I wouldnt think much of that. But who knows...

It is easily explainable: They are sitting at computers and are being handed talking points as they type, so the “responses to their own posts” are actually addenda.
