This is not far from where I live. The refinery is subcontracting the specific work out instead of having employees. They are not closing down the refinery.
This company has done the same with other refineries they have purchased.

About 70 years ago, I drove by that refinery, and what I remember was the gasoline stations closest to that refinery were higher in price than the gas stations farther away. - Tom

Same here, it’s just a few miles west of me and most of my community work there. They are reorganizing and consolidating their operations to their corporate model. Its going to be tough, but we will prevail. We still have enough coal to provide energy for the country for the next 150 years. Once the societal collapse happens, I take up a pick ax and shovel and start digging.
