Putin isn't a Communist and his comments about the collapse of the Soviet Union referred to the plight of millions of ethnic Russians who suddenly found themselves in new countries formed by the former soviet states, not a desire to resurrect the Soviet Union.

True, before Putin invaded Ukraine he did not have any problems with supposed neo-Nazis. He has many of them in his Wagner Group mercenary militia, and among his military and his DPR friends. Many of them are still working for Putin.

No the Maidan coup looks like people throwing off the yoke of corrupt Russian leaning leaders. You might say they were throwing the nazi’s out.

I have no way of knowing if Biletsky did or didn't utter those words. Biletsky claims he didn't, so whether or not he said them at one point he has dis-avowed them. Biletsky apparently claims Sergey Lavrov made up that statement.

Sergey Lavrov is the Russian Foreign Minister, so he is exactly the type of person who would make up a lie about some Ukrainian. Just another part of the Russian propaganda machine.
Cathi left out the part of the Guardian article which described who had the more radical beliefs. Here is what it actually said:

What the Russian Azov member said is not surprising, since the group that was interviewed were Russian speaking Azov members, and that kind of radical idea is common in Russia.
