South bashers always point out the 3/5 compromise counted but didn’t vote

Well women counted 5/5ths yet almost none were allowed to vote either side of the mason Dixon line

Indeed. I just replied elsewhere that women were counted as a population census, despite most not permitted to vote.

The 3/5s compromise even pre-dates the 1789 Constitution.

3/5s was part of a proposed amendment to the Articles of Confederation in 1783. The Articles assigned tax obligations to the states based upon their population. James Madison came up with the 3/5 number.
