I understand your view, but it is simplistic. Cuba didn’t belong to us, but we were going to nuke it to smithereens when they allowed the Soviet Union to start stationing nukes there. It was there country not ours.
False comparison; never at any time was Cuba seeking statehood nor the USA promulgating territoryhood. But Russia certainly thought Cuba belonged to them, now that’s brought up; and then that raises the rightful ownership of Cuba to Bautista verus Castro, never mind the Monroe Doctrine and the reasons thereunto.
