I lived in SanFran when the AIDS epidemic began. I worked in the arts and knew many gay men, one of whom was among the first to die of AIDS. WE weren’t even sure that was the cause but it had to be. Another gay man I knew told me he went to bathhouses and the men there, all gay, had as many as 15 partners per night. He got AIDS but somehow it never killed him or even affected his health. Really handsome Italian guy.

I happened to run across this video just recently and it was fascinating and I believe it answers the question of why some people survive AIDS and some do not. It’s connected to a genetic mutation they discovered researching the Black Plague.
