When I worked for Prudential in Newark, NJ, I would sometimes have to work late at night. The company had armed guards to escort me to my car in the parking lot that had razor wire. The Newark police also advised people not to stop at stoplights at night.
It wasn’t because of Hasidim or Amish.
I lived in Maryland, just outside the DC Beltway. There were places within walking distance of my house that it would have been a fatal mistake for me to walk to.
