Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz said Tuesday he supports the right to same-sex marriage, making the statement as the Senate considers a vote that could codify that right into law.

Several GOP lawmakers have stated support for “The Respect for Marriage Act” would codify at the federal level same-sex marriage and interracial marriage, both of which were legalized through Supreme Court decisions in 2005 and 1967, respectively, that remain the law of the land.

“Dr. Mehmet Oz believes that same-sex couples should have the same freedom to get married as straight couples,” campaign spokesperson Brittany Yanick said in response to a question about whether he supports the measure.

As a PA resident I am embarrassed by this idiot. The simple answer is “why is the federal government involved in anyone’s marriage”?

The answer is, that there are many areas of federal law, and various state laws, which deal with marriage and family law, and which take into account one’s marital status.

That’s why the federal government is involved in marriage.

You may have trouble with OZ, but are you prepared to let that non-campaigning left wing idiot win that Senate seat?

Why do republicans always allow the left to set the context when they’d do so much better to redefine the issue?

Are they that lacking in imagination?

Fetterman is going to win.

The idea that some carpetbagging Turkish Muslim is going to play well in Pennsyltucky is comical.

Trump made another horrible personnel decision.

The Quran allows taqiyya for use against infidels.

What a loser hypocrite. Muslims vilify and kill gays with regularity. To say that he supports same sex marriage is nothing more than pandering to queers....typical muslim trash.

Marriage is a “states or the people” issue and the federal government has no say.

It’s the left forcing this bill. For ten years, we heard nothing about gay marriage and now suddenly we need a bill. They are transparent as heck.

So tell me....What are the qualities and issues that Fetterman stands for that makes you want him to hold the PA Senate seat for the next 6 years?

Okay, ask Trump his choice. Has he taken a stand on this?
Sadly, I suspect most of Republic politicians will vote Yes.

When republicans are pressed to respond by reporters why not just say "with inflation screaming past 10% I think there are more important matters to discuss, don't you?"

Good grief don't they know how to play this game yet?

Well, we know there is no federal marriage certificate. We know that states and localities issue marriage licenses, not the federal government. But we also know that there are various aspects of federal law which deal with marital status, hence the need for a definition of marriage.

The wizard of OZ is a prime example how the GOP snares defeat from the jaws of victory.

And yet, many Freepers had problems with all 3 candidates in that primary election. So we would be hearing these complaints no matter who won that Senate primary.
