They have estimates, or projections, of what the jackpot will be if no one wins. They do it for all jackpots. In this case it will probably be significantly more than the 1.2 billion.

But the 302 million tickets would cost $604 million since they’re $2 each. And buying multiples doesn’t help your odds at all. Each single ticket has odds of 302,575,350, buying 5,10 or 1 million tickets doesn’t increase your odds at all, it only give you more chances. Odds and chances are totally different things.
