It is bat shit crazy, but it has too much momentum for anyone to stop it.
The problem is compounded by the fact that a big chunk of our population has made up its mind. Everything it reads, everything it hears, and everything it comes into contact with is filtered through its bias.
Things that confirm its bias are embraced. Things that conflict with its bias are discarded out of hand.
We are in the perfect storm of confirmation bias.
