I remember in the mid 60s when you were driving through the desert, you could see the glow of Vegas from at least a hundred miles away. I wasn’t driving... but I remember dad pointing that out.

I’ve only been there once myself, and that was by accident, and at night, so I couldn’t say... but it kind of reminds me of a description of West Texas I heard recently: so flat, you can watch your dog run away for three days...
