One of the reasons given for the rise in Christianity is that Christians (and Jews) valued children. They did not practice abortion or infanticide.

Because of this and widespread homosexuality in Pagan Rome, Roman cities were unable to reproduce themselves. They relied on constant immigration to maintain their populations.

So, Christians were better at reproducing. Rodney Stark gives several other reasons and advantages Christians had in Roman society.
