I read of at least two known cases. They said the cases were due to “household contact”.

Uh-huh.

From the article:
Britons are concerned that monkeypox will spread to children, in whom the symptoms of the virus could be more severe, due to the insufficient number of vaccine doses available. A class of school children were sent home last Thursday after one child came into contact with a monkeypox case.

Parents were advised to refrain from hugging or coming into close contact with their children. As a result, the vaccinations are now being extended to the young population as well as to adults.

They are going way out on a limb trying to spread fear.

Two children in the USA have it. A ten year old in the Netherlands got it in Turkey, the UK has had more than 4 cases in under 17. They all were cross contaminated cases from family members except the kid in Turkey his parents and siblings got the vaccine before they presented symptoms and the family took extra precautions to not be around other people even bringing their own towels to the resort. His case has to be formites. Improperly sanitized cups, plates,or eating utensils seems the likely vector in this case. This virus will make the jump to the general population it’s only a matter of time. Ignoring it won’t make it go away. Just like smallpox only human intervention will eradicate it. Scientists have warned since the 1980s that once the smallpox eradication program ended monkeypox would take it’s place in the evolutionary chain. They are 100% right this is how nature works. When one ecological niche is vacated another organism takes its place.
