Sort of short video, but you'll get what you expect from these two.
roy clark was a legend- he could play a number of instruments too- he played into late age too-
Chet never certified Glen. Though he did lesser guitarists. No real explanation why.
I did tell a real estate agent to check out Vince Gill at a local concert in Charlotte.
That dude can play.
Yes. I certainly place him above Urban. Sadly anyone living doesn’t really compare in ANY way to GC or RC though.
the following is a comedic version of dueling banjos- Start the vid @ the 5:50 mark (the first 5 minutes is pretty boring)

Roy wasn’t available but the time I moved in to Charlotte, Vince was having a show.
I just told her she would not be disappointed.
Vince was the best at keeping old school Nashville alive.
A lot of people didn’t know that Campbell was actually that talented with the guitar. Jim Stafford was another great player that most knew as a singer but not as a guitarist. Brad Paisley is someone who is a modern day version of this.
And sorry to hijack this thread even further, but as far as great guitar and dueling on stage, this is probably my fave video:

Try this:
Ricky Skaggs w/ Ray Flacke, Bruce Bouton, Bobby Hicks - Sally Goodin
Ricky is outstanding.
One more Gill with Allman and Zac. He is very good.

I read a story supposedly written by some producer, about an incident he witnessed in the 1970s. Glen Campbell, Roy Clark, and I think it was Johnny Cash were backstage in a dressing room just messing around. Between the three of them that day, each had an enormous pile of Cocaine and they were all pretty well wired. They were playing pretty fast at first and he came back a while later and it was off the charts fast. “Guys!! Guys!! You can’t do that, slow the F down!!!”
Decades ago, one of my sisters was on a domestic flight with Roy Clark. He sat in the back in “economy” with the regular folks because he said he had nothing in common with the folks in front. However, he did buy an extra seat where he parked his red white and blue guitar. He then proceeded to play and sing during the flight, and signed autographs for all who wanted them. A great man. Rare.

Glenn was just phenomenally good, a real savant. He was a member of the great studio band “The Wrecking Crew” and the only one who couldn’t read sheet music. A studio musician who can’t read sheets is unheard of. Eddie Van Halen asked Glen’s good friend Alice Cooper if he would ask if Glen would be willing to give him a guitar lesson for an afternoon.
There is video on you tube of Glen playing The William Tell Overture with a full orchestra at lightening speed - ON A 12 STRING. It’s mind blowing.
Two of the best there ever was.
Two old studio musicians of Mussel Shoals fame who made it big and public.
Hear the one about Santa Claus asked a kid what he wanted to be when he grew up? Kid answered, “A guitarist!”
Santa replied, “Sorry, kid, but you can’t do both!”
