50 years? I’m truly asking.
Early 1960s and prior.
It was from before Lyndon Johnson advanced his Great Society, so, previous to 1965.
To catch a lovely glimpse of the olden days urban black family, watch the movie “Crooklyn.”
Most families had similar values back then...God, marriage, family, love thy neighbor, patriotism, respect for elders, etc.
Race, religion, ethnicity, color ...did not enter into it.
