Makes so much sense. After the fire I couldn’t get my meds. I have a pancreas that doesn’t work. Got down to 81 lbs.
Depressed?? Homeless at 72?
Absolutely. And now so frail I barely function.
Can someone put into plain language what an inflammatory diet is?
Ever see a fire-eater at the circus?
Screw the Mediterranean diet. I only get depressed if I don’t have beef
Beef. Good old American beef
AuntB, if I remember correctly, you had a wildfire burn your home, and everything you had was in there.
Have you found a permanent residence? Are you eating healthy?
Thank you, yes, I lost everything. I bought an old place, it will do. Not in my community, 50 miles away is as close as I could get.
Yes I eat healthy, but there’s been too much damage. Just biding time now.
- Desserts, breads, chips, sugars - bad
- Partially hydrogenated fats (Used to be in Twinkies and about everything else)
- Omega-6 fats: Most fried foods from restaurants, Safflower Oil, Corn Oil, Sunflower Oil, Cottonseed Oil, Peanut Oil, and Almond Oil appear to have the most Omega-6 fats. Soybean Oil has somewhat less, but is pretty commonly eaten, so it has a outsized impact on adding Omega-6 fats i to our diets.
These are the worst offenders. Technically speaking, saturated fats are neither pro or anti-inflammatory, but this study author threw them in.
Omega-3 fats are anti-inflammatory fats and antioxidant foods good for you, too.
Yes. Foods containing sugar, corn syrup, white flour, margarine, and other types of processed junk food will cause inflammation (esp. those with sugar). Recommend eating whole foods to avoid inflammation. Those are foods you have to cut up and eat raw or cook (fresh fruits & vegetables, meat). Whole grains are also good. Dairy is ok in moderation (cheese, yogurt, milk). Olive oil.
Processed foods, sugar, soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup and potential allergans sometimes such as gluten dairy etc
Very sorry to hear. These times SUCK. Praying for you

Processed foods....crackers, cookies, packaged cakes/bakery items, candies....soft drinks....
Basically, most everything that is NOT on the perimeter of the grocery store, such as produce, dairy, and, the bad stuff is in the middle (stuff on the inside aisles)...with a very few exceptions.
Meh. I eat beef, chicken, eggs, salmon, veggies including lots of potatoes, fruit (for dessert), yogurt. Drink coffee and lots of Kombucha, which is rather habit forming. Don’t eat anything made of wheat, which eliminates bread, cake, all kinds of fattening stuff. White rice is nice.
Don’t drink booze except some good red wine on special occasions.
Do not like pizza, beer, chocolate or football. They’re revoking my citizenship but I sure will be a healthy illegal.
I’m old, weigh 115, blood pressure like a teenager, zero health problems except I need a corneal transplant because doc bleeped up cataract surgery.
Thanks- i’m in trouble because i consume everything there in large quantities except soft drinks.
I also workout 1 1/2 to 2 hours daily to offset all that stuff.
Thanks
And here's a major "thanks" for your health-related detective work from a retired scientist who worked a career in public health.
Don’t eat pre-processed food from the frozen section every meal. Don’t eat fast food everyday for lunch. Make your own food from scratch. Stop drinking g soda pop.
