Want a big dog? Buy a home or rent in a community that allows them. FYI, most HOAs allow big dogs.

Otherwise, argue it in the courts.

Property owners are tired of cleaning up after irresponsible owners or praying for their negligence. Go gripe at them. They are the problem.

I moved into my first HOA community a few years ago and found to my dismay that you were only allowed up to 30 pound dogs

Incredible...

Some HOAs don’t enforce weight limits

I read a study that concluded the best defense against burglary is a small, happy dog. Better than a big, powerful dog.

So when no one is home, and the burglars kick in the door and drop kick small happy dog across the room, small happy dog will be sad, much sadder than big powerful dog.

What happens to dogs that gains weight exceeding the limit? Do they have a dog scale in the commandants office?

The idea is that when the little dog starts yapping, the burglars find a quieter house to break into.

You get a choice...low carb diet and monitored exercise program, or amputate a couple limbs....

Not as quickly or as long as the little dogs.
It takes much more effort for a big dog to bark. They bark, get tired or bored, and stop after a short while.
Little dogs yap and yap and yap and yap and yap and yap and yap and yap ....

Both is best.

A dog is a walking alarm. Even a small dog will provide a certain measure of protection because they are LOUD.

But you need to be able to protect both yourself and your dog.

And that is where the gun comes in.

A nice walking stick is also very handy.

Female German Pinscher.

If you do not crop the ears or tail people do not realize what you have.

That's because little yappers have low intelligence. There are crews who hit homes and they don't even care about video cameras, let alone little yappers. Big dog who'll rip um up? Not soo much.

Why choose between dog or a gun, when you can have both?

My money is on Belgian Malinois as the best working/all around dog. I trust my son opinion. He has 10 years Teir-1 SpecOps andd 10 years in private life with them. There is one on overwatch of his wife and kids as I keyboard this. I sleep some better at night knowing that the level of security is in place.
