Maybe that more ppl ARE looking under the couch cushions for spare change, it’s getting that bad.
I’m a FIRM believer in using ca$h for most daily, local, retail transactions.
I carry a few buck$ of mixed coin to use to complete those transactions.
I have no buildup of coin.
Coin machines are a ripoff, though I did, for a while, use a Bank that had a coin counter machine in the lobby where one could take the receipt to a cashier and deposit it at 100%.
I’ve seen more people using them at the supermarket, and it is a sign of hard times. During the 2007-2008 “he-cession”, I also received more wheat pennies and bicentennial quarters than I’d seen in decades - people were desperate.
