My first thought also. But let’s clarify this for the benefit of others: Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Never will fly....too many white kids in the video. Stopped it after 20 seconds.
“The music just doesn’t seem organic “
The pedigree of the vast majority of tunes coming out of Nashville today.
Starting 10 years ago I used to follow a local kid who had a band and posted their stuff on youtube. Original country rock music with a bit of grit. Saw him play at a few shows and thought he was headed in the right direction for major success.
The guy goes to Nashville and gets sucked into the commercial side and the entire nature of his music changed to the codswallop we hear on the radio today.
I think the generation that was willing to willing to sacrifice and go on the road, play little venues to build a fan base has disappeared. The people today want the easier route and the lifestyle. If it’s codswallop the people want they’ll comply and give it to them.
Correction: bless their LITTLE hearts
You got me on that one...
Never heard it either but I don’t have network TV so in my case, luck has nothing to do with it.
The best SEC related song of recent memory is “I Hate Alabama.” Even if you love the Tide, that is a great song.
I’ve never been to an Applebee’s or heard that particular song. It’s not bad, but I’d rather listen to Merle Haggard or Conway Twitty.
the Monkees had some seriously good tunes back in the day. of course many were written by superstars like Neil Diamond.
I hate country music, too, except for, “Redneck Mother!” LOL
;)
Just heard it for the first time. Country rap? Two strikes. Probably more like three.
I refuse to eat at Applebees for a lot better reasons than a crappy Jingle. I ain’t being no food snob. I like my Whopper. I like my McFries. Hell, I’ll eat 7-11 food. But man, for instance, I ordered a plate of ribs at Applebees, and got a pile of bone chips and grease. Nicely prepared bone chips and grease, in all honesty: if anyone ever asks me, “Hey, where’s a place where I can get me a plate of bone chips and grease?” I’ll be sure to recommend Applebees. But I can’t figure why someone would take a baby rack of ribs, and cut it cross-wise to give customers a plate of bone chips and grease. Tasted like knuckles.
I always thought of Lynyrd Skynyrd as rock rather than country, JMHO.
Just show the “It just means more” girl.
I find country music all sounds alike. The best was the really old ones. Modern country is awful.
This is one of the funniest football lampoons ever; Coach Ed Ogerdon was no longer winning at Ole Miss, and fans wanted him to move on. Here is a video one of the fans produced:
Winner. Right there.
When Ole Miss fired David Cutcliffe (a very good football coach) and hired Coach Yaw Yaw, I was mystified and amused. I remain that way. My neighbor was a big Ole Miss fan; he tried to explain it.
‘I Hate Alabama’ is the only decent SEC song since Lewis Grizzard recorded “a Bulldog’s Prayer” many moons ago. With this SCOTUS, we might be able to pray!
Of late, it’s all ‘I Hate Alabama.’ That guy just did a great job.
Orgeron is Da Bomb. Great college football guy.
