A news article from 1996, before Sarah Palin was in politics, quotes her as an Ivana Trump fan.
Palin had lined up to meet Trump, who was in Alaska promoting her perfume line.
Palin recounted the experience on Thursday after news broke of Ivana Trump's death.
Long before she became a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, Sarah Palin was a big fan of his ex-wife.
In 1996, Palin was just one of many Alaskans who lined up to meet Ivana Trump, the former Czechoslovakian Olympic skier and businesswoman, according to an article published in the Anchorage Daily News at the time.
Palin, who described as a commercial fisherman, drove from her home in Wasilla to Anchorage for what she told her husband was a trip to Costco. Instead, she went to JCPenney, where Trump was promoting her perfume line and meeting with fans.
''We want to see Ivana,'' Palin told the Anchorage Daily News, ''because we are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture.''
The outlet reported Palin "admittedly" smelled like salmon for much of the summer and was just one of over 500 people who lined up to meet Trump.

Leave it to Yahoo to write a piece like this. So what if she enjoyed the celebrity of Ivana Trump? Millions of people did back then. Leave it to Yahoo to take the low road, saying Sarah “smelled like salmon for most of the summer”. That’s a rather petty and tacky thing to print up about anybody.
That’s taking the “kitchen sink” approach to smearing someone they consider a threat to Democrats.
How is this relevant to anything?

‘Cause Ivana died and the yahoo reporter poured over Ivana news stories and lo and behold found one with Sarah Palin in it.
They wanted you to know that Sarah lied to her husband searching for glamour and culture. She drove all the way to Anchorage and waltzed in dressed like someone from The Deadliest Catch reeking of a fishy salmon smell walked up to the line waiting to see Ivana and said “ you betcha this is where I can get me some glamour and culture”.
Oh, and Ivana Trump died.
