I think you are confusing AIDS with HIV.
There are multiple ways one can acquire immune deficiency.
One of which is the virus known as HIV.
Another way to acquire AIDS is to artificially generate antibodies to a point where your immune system becomes dependent upon that interference and simply shuts down.
Yeah just means that your immune system never works as good as it did before
