If there had been enough parents or grandparents on site who were capable and willing to do the right thing, any restraining "they" tried might have been ineffective and subsequently nothing but ex post facto harassment and charges of interference. My guess is that if those kids had been saved by such independent and instinctive action, mom, dad or grandpa would be fine with the consequences of overriding timid and/or incompetent "public safety" types. "Jail me for trying to protect the little ones? Cuff me, tough guy."
Alas...

Exactly. Can you imagine how horrible the optics woild, have been if a large group.of parents tried to force their way through the cops to get to the school to save their kids, and the cops broke out the “riot gear” to prevent them, a d put the parents in handcuffs WHILE the gunman was murdering the kids?
It actually did happen to an extent, (jusy not on a large enough scale to where the left couldn’t ignore it like, theynare the few cases where parents did try to get,in) but sadly we don’t have enough gop in congress screaming about the fsct that parents were detained and prevented from saving gheir kids. All we have are a few conservative news media who bring the issue up, but it’s ineffective because the msm refuses to go after the cops for their incompetence.
