There was a CS professor in Washington state with the task upping the percentage of women with CS majors. He had some modest success with more outreach, but a huge gap in enrollment remained. So he asked to look at the admissions documents from recent cohorts.

What he found was that both the men and women interested in CS had high math scores on standardized admission tests. However, the women had significantly higher verbal test scores than the men.

He quickly realized that because the women had high verbal scores, many other courses of study were available to them, so fewer chose CS.

He was promptly sacked, of course, when he presented his findings.

“He was promptly sacked, of course, when he presented his findings.”

Never, ever should facts, research, logic, or reason inconvenience the advancement of the narrative for the good of the preferred portion of the population.
