Perkins issued an apology at a Tuesday city commission meeting, saying she “complied with instructions from the police officer,” according to WPLG-TV.
“If any exchange on my part, the conversation with the police officer, is perceived as being disrespectful, then I do apologize,” she said.
Barbara Stern, an attorney representing the Fort Lauderdale police union, criticized Perkins at the meeting.
“You were not gracious. You were not apologetic,” Stern said. “You were rude, unprofessional and disrespectful.”
When asked if she had any further comment, Perkins said, “I’ve made my statement at the beginning of the meeting and that was it.”
Yeah. I was going to give her credit for apologizing, but you are right. It was a non-apology.
Wish politicians on our side would learn that lesson. They can’t wait to grovel and apologize.

I think most everyone realizes that when you use the F word, that it is correctly perceived as disrespectful.
I’d like to see what kind of a response most of us would get if we used that type of apology to another person (especially a white person to a black person). I’m going to guess that using the F word would not be kindly reacted to. Probably would receive an ass whooping.
