I’m not a scientist but..there is probably a reason one gets hangovers.

I've been sober coming up on 7 years, but in my darkest days, I never once ran to "the hair of the dog." I always forced myself to endure the hangover as a form of penance. Must've been the Roman Catholic upbringing.
In the end, I quit for a variety of reasons, but the GERD and the headaches were a constant reminder in the early days of sobriety whenever the booze hound wanted back out of the cage.
