Deep State/China approve of this message.
This is ideological training to kill Americans. This is more important to the ruling class right now than maximizing military efficiency.
Meanwhile, fighting wars to make money. Winning is s-o-o-o-o middle of the last century. They barely even pretend at this point.
>>The Critical Theory of Marxism is not just about class anymore.<<
Marxism never really took off in the US. Unlike in Europe, it was very possible for a smart and hard working guy born to working class parents to ascend to middle class or upper middle class. This means that the people Communists would like to recruit are instead busy improving their own status.
Marxism depends on envy, which means they must use immutable characteristics like race and sex and LGBT orientation to create anger and envy and a sense of being oppressed.
“...when the architects of the war in Vietnam later admitted countless mistakes...”
The McNamara documentary called the fog of War is a shameful exposé/admission.
The War Of Numbers was a good read on ignoring good Intel if it doesn’t meet the agenda or when cooking a budget. Tet was completely avoidable if the numbers secured by Intel through a network of trusted regional contact collection efforts were not cooked. The MACV appears to have been suckered into not believing the hard raw.on the ground data. Why? It didn’t support Westmorland strategy of victory through a war of attrition. When “body counts” become an indicator of a successful op and the troops are officially recognized for body counts, the race us on and numbers creep sets in.
You’re right, and also whether it’s eventually called RWII or CWII may depend on which side wins.
“The US Army will only meet 50% of it’s recruiting requirement this year.”
Then they’ll spend more of our tax dollars increasing signing bonuses/paying more; that is how they handled the shortage during Iraq War II. That is how all mercenary armies work.
They cooked the numbers deliberately to deceive the American people that we were “winning”; Tet showed that we weren’t - and the scales fell from the public’s eyes.
Millions of people died in that war, and we destabilized Cambodia in the process (leading to “The Killing Fields”). I could understand if there was a more sincere effort at the top (I believe we were right to try to help South Vietnam in the same way we helped South Korea ten years before), but it doesn’t appear there was.
We didn’t really lose Tet, Wally Cronkite said we did and he was wrong.
The shocker was... suddenly, communist sappers and infiltrators were coming out of the woodwork and according to the numbers all these Communists coming out of the woodwork should have been dead long ago but the numbers were massaged & the statistics were tortured enough that it worked and fooled the budgeteers out of more money to continue fighting the Industrialized War.
It seems to be a model which continues to this day, and of course as we all know Ike warned us of that.
Tet would probably be considered a victory for us in terms of VC killed, but it showed that we were nowhere near winning the war - though we’d been telling the American people we were. It eliminated any hope of South Vietnamese communists controlling their destiny; the war became a North Vietnamese effort after that - but there was still no way to win according to the strategies we were employing.
Ike WAS right, and the mountains of equipment left behind in Afghanistan is a testament to that. The aid sent to Ukraine today is as well.
