FWIW I left after 30 years and I never looked back my friend.
It’s a big step but I’m sure you will be happy you did.
Before I retired I ran in to many I had worked with that said “I wish I woulda retired 5 years before I did”.
Your call brother...but I suspect you won’t regret it.
There is life after government service my friend.....and it’s goooood! 😎
Even though I need only give 30 days notice, I'm really thinking about giving them a 28 Feb 2023 date so everyone knows what's coming and can prepare. When I leave, they are going to have a huge hole to fill. I'm not bragging or boasting when I say that I wear a lot of hats and people depend on me for a wide variety of tasks. And with the hiring freeze in place, they can't hire anyone to take my place. It's gonna be bad for them, but good for me. Of course, they are all joking about bringing me on as a part-time consultant (LOL!!!) but that'll never happen.
Anywho, I'll be 62, I'll have 30 years in, and it'll be time to move on. A fellow Freeper in Western Indiana has already volunteered to help me and I'm gonna go visit him soon. It feels liberating just talking about it with folks, so I think I'm on the right path. Any suggestions you might have are most welcome my friend! Thanks for your kind words!
