Apparently Publix did not see her steal anything. They asked her to show a receipt as she left the store and she refused. Can’t accuse someone of shoplifting if you did not witness a crime.

Cop clearly had a relationship with Publix (guessing he worked their off duty) because he referred to the employees in the store by their first name. Never saw a theft, employees never saw a theft she just did not want to be treated like a criminal being asked for her receipt when she knew she did not steal anything. Once she paid, the merchandise and the receipt were her property and she was entitled “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.”
