Pro-Abortion rights protesters descend on Eastern Prom before July Fourth fireworks The protesters say the notion of Independence Day is ironic following the overturning of Roe v. Wade (MAINE)

A group of pro-abortion rights protesters descended on the Eastern Prominade in Portland Monday prior to the city's July Fourth fireworks celebration in an effort to keep abortion rights on the mind, and to highlight what they believe is the loss of independence for women on Independence Day.

“We have less rights than my mother," said protester Tracey Falla. "My daughter has less rights than her grandmother had. It's ridiculous. We are going backwards and it's not OK.”

The protest was not organized by a specific group, but a grassroots network of advocates. Organizers say there is no denying the irony of celebrating American independence following the loss of the Constitutional right to a medical abortion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Supreme Court decision.

“We really respect everybody's right to have a piece of enjoyment and respite during these really hard times," said protest organizer Zuni. "They feel that their country is free, and that's really awesome. And we just want to voice our want for our freedoms for ourselves and for our loved ones as well.”

Many of the fireworks observers cheered the protesters, and some joined in the chants. The message organizers had for those celebrating July Fourth is that despite the festiveness of the holiday, they want to keep abortion rights at the front of the mind.

"We’re worried about our loved ones and about ourselves," Zuni said. "And we wanted to come down here and enjoy the fireworks as well, but we also wanted to keep it at the top of everybody's minds that it isn't equal and free for everybody today."

These people have been brainwashed. Independence Day means we come together for a common cause under our constitution to shape the limits of government and secure individual freedom. They have been coerced into believing “rights” come from the nine in black. These are the same people who are all about democracy until it doesn’t go their way and then it’s conspiracy, Russia collusion, white supremacy, etc. Dobbs is the high court recognizing its limitations in the scheme of the balance of powers between three coequal branches of government. The Left has had fifty years to “enshrine” Roe into law and it didn’t. Politicians on both sides preferred a proxy game and hiding behind the courts. They want to keep issues alive for the next campaign and fill their own pockets rather than get things done.

Outsider Trump broke the rules and tried to get some things done. For that he and his supporters became a mortal enemy to the political class. Their willful unresponsiveness and inept governance created the environment for Trump to win. I am hopeful that fire still burns in the hearts of voters and we get a doer rather than a political hack as POTUS in 2024. Let’s not forget we only still have Obamacare because of McCain’s no vote to spite Trump.

Oh it gets better..or worse I should say.
