Most car buyers simply do not want EVs or even hybrids.

~~~
I think my next car will by a hybrid.
I want nothing to do with an electric vehicle and having to plug in all the time. However, I’ve driven hybrids a few times, including rentals, I am amazed by how well they are able to recover kinetic energy back into the system that is wasted on braking in normal combustion driven vehicles. The nice thing about a hybrid is that your batteries are recharged either by recovered energy or from the combustion engine, and you aren’t on the short-leash to the electric grid.
My brother loves he hybrid for the same reason. He uses electric in stop and go environments and combustion on the road trips. Averages around 40 mpg.
