“To me its a simple fairness issue, and it actually has nothing to do, fundamentally, with XX or XY status.”

Fairness is not always the problem with things. I believe it has to do with the approach and political practices of the ruling faction at the time. And this is not new as it has been done for yeas.

Example, in 1976, Princess Anne made history by becoming the first British royal to compete at the Olympics in three-day eventing, where she rode the Queen’s horse, Goodwill in equestrian. This Olympics was in Canada which is still a strong supporter of England, possibly even more at that time. Many of her family members flew to the Games in the Canadian city of Montreal to support her.

However, in order to compete at the Olympics, Anne was reportedly excused from a test that all female athletes at the time had to take - a gender test. But the Canadian officials refused to do it. They would not gender test a British royal to determine if she was indeed a princess. And she was allowed to compete. So much for every female athlete being tested. So since it is selective, does it really mean anything if it isn’t swept under the rug or how it is presented by the media?

But there is worse than the sex testing problems in the past. The Russian block countries used to impregnate their athletes are certain times so the female body could reach its maximum capacity, as it does during pregnancy, then abort the child right before the events. It’s called abortion doping.

The first known was in 1968. Doctors had discovered that pregnant women could gain an advantage in muscle power, suppleness and lung capacity, because they produced more red blood cells. So all the gymnasts on the Russian gymnastic team, two of whom were 15 at the time, were forced to become pregnant before the Olympics: if they did not have a husband or boyfriend, they were made to have sex with a male coach. Anyone who refused was thrown off the team. After 10 weeks of pregnancy every gymnast had an abortion. They won the team gold medal by a fraction of a point, with Czechoslovakia second.
