Not always. I saw a video of a family cat ram full speed at a mad dog that was trying to drag off a little boy. The dog let go of the boy and ran off no knowing what hit him.

Also, keep in mind that a wild animal has no backup, no familial support. A domestic critter knows that if they get hurt their family will help them (e.g., vet). It’s not a thought process — Momma critter would do what they could, too.

A wild animal knows, tho, that if they suffer just a small tear they are not hunting for a week. That is starvation. They must be much more careful if confronted.
