Bring on The Second Patriotic War! But don't call it a war!
JuliaDavisNews ^ | 3rd July 2022 | Russian whackjobs on state television

Okay, so it's not a war, but a series of Special Military Operations over a generation or two, involving one country after another, that'll be collectively known in Russia as the Second Patriotic War.

Who knew?

Link is just to the latest segment - and no,this isn't a Brass Eye satirical show, it's what passes for serious punditry in Russia's mainstream media.

JuliaDavisNews is a nice slice of windows into Russian media to see what the Kremlin is force-feeding its captive domestic audience.

The regular panel shows offer an alternative explanation of what Russia has done in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria and Ukraine.

All part of the same multigenerational ideological crusade, apparently.

Perhaps these talking heads are simply following a crazy script, but even so the script says...

Just watch this and other videos of the pundits going full Retard.

Two regulars are in the state Duma and the station editorial line is set directly by the Kremlin. The output of this show is targeted at the proles. Its purpose can only be, to gear the population up for a new Cold War with hot wars.

Thoughts?

The Russians are a people who are experts at suffering and always seem to have a leadership that brings them, time and time again to great suffering in the name of the Czar, Lenin, Papa Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev down to our present dictator/Czar - Putin.

An insular people exposed to “PRAVDA” (truth) in the form of lies and propaganda will settle in their own excrement, calling it “Progress” and sweet roses.

The Russians are used to depravation, hunger and blackmail as an artform but in the end they implode and will do so again, just like in 1989, hopefully without making a nuclear mistake.

We are the last ones who should be pointing fingers over the quality of another country’s pundits.

...and entering into endless, pointless, and fruitless wars.

It’s not the quality of the propaganda or the pundits that I care about. It’s the messages they’re sending.

For all its faults American news isn’t making an active pitch to nuke Russia, or incite famines to force Russia to the negotiating table, or erase all traces of Russian history and culture, or exterminate 5-20% of the Russian population to keep the rest in line.

These are all things that Russian television DOES discuss - as legitimate war tactics - and the goal that they’re setting out goes far beyond sorting out a civil war between separatists and Nazis in Ukraine, or dealing with biolabs that they’ve known about for 20 years amd offered hardly anything more than mild diplomatic rebukes over.

If one supposes that Russian MSM is far more honest than its western counterparts are, then it suggests we’re all missing the bigger picture.

Russia is effectively telling its own people, all these things are peripheral elements of a Great Patriotic War that it’s been waging ever since Chechnya stood up to Russia, and that war would’ve been waged regardless.

In effect, the REAL Causus Belli is, the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain came down, people like Putin saw that as an intolerable humiliation, and the reconquest of those ornery separatist states is their way of restoring Russia to greatness.

Can we really afford to ignore that?

The good news is that Ukraine’s toughness is changing everything, it is bleeding Russia, strengthening NATO, waking up the US and Western nations that Ukraine has given them a chance to get back into the self defense model and start reinvigorating their defense manufacturing because long, material/manpower devouring wars are not over.

I hope that awareness takes hold so that we will be better prepared when China makes it’s move.

Ukraine has shown us that we need more bench depth in both weaponry and the toughness and endurance of our manpower.

Does the semantic bullshit of a formal war declaration really make a difference?

Russia’s waged HOW many hostile invasions of its neighbors now without officially declaring war?

For that matter, how many not-wars has America fought, that are war in all but name?

it used to make a difference. Before the US became an oligarchy run by the elites who run the congress criminals. The latter of which are, solely, supposed to decide on matters if war.

“Used to” being the operative word. These days, you can wage a world war for years and still palm it off as an “operation”.

This is part of the point of the thread. People who think Russia is being restrained are missing the point - the way Putin’s talking, this one could rumble on longer than World War One.
