You know that, definitively, because ......? Just wondering.
I know the victim’s drug use was well published, and he was obviously grossly overweight, videoed cuffed behind his back, on his belly and chest, against a hard surface, concrete, which impacts normal ability to breathe, but with his own obesity used against him, and on concrete, that’s not a normal risk scenario.
Those factors are apparent Before Chauvin, unnecessarily, placed his knee (at least appearing to be firmly resting)— maybe even pressing, on Floyd’s neck.
Tack on that crap of Nine (9) Minutes of just The Knee, onto the other factors and you risk getting a corpse. Maybe, wanting a corpse.
Throw in Chauvin’s history of head-neck overkill complaints, and ya’ gotta give the public opinion a better shake, for thinking Chauvin “knew better”, than anyone else, and he still chose disaster. He increased the net outcome, by adding even more poundage against the respiration needs of a big man. Probably had heart trouble.
Chauvin was dumb as rocks, skipped training, or become so dis-engaged from human responsibility that he should have never been let anywhere near a badge, long ago.
But, the Badge got him off from worse penalties, and was allowed to serve the murder case, concurrently, not separately, with the federal civil rights case, or else he’d be behind bars even longer.
I know it because I read so much. Floyd OD’ed, asked to lie down, the hold Chauvin used is used all over the world safely, etcetc. YMMV. OD’ing on opiods stops breathing. I did not read anything about previous complaints against Chauvin, so I could be wrong.
