Akron police have said Walker, 25, fired a gun at officers who were pursuing him. They plan to release their body camera footage following a news conference on Sunday, hours before a protest march is scheduled.
Officials have said the deadly confrontation began when officers tried to stop Walker for a traffic violation while he was driving early Monday morning. Walker fled, according to the Akron Police Department, which said officers reported a gun being fired from Walker's vehicle.
After several minutes Walker exited his vehicle and ran, while officers chased him on foot and fired at him, saying he presented a "deadly threat," the police department said in a statement on Tuesday.
Walker was pronounced dead in the parking lot where he fell.
"He is just in a down sprint when he is dropped by I think the count is more than 90 shots," [plaintiff lawyer] DiCello told the Beacon Journal. "Now how many of those land, according to our investigation right now, we're getting details that suggest 60 to 80 wounds."
Television station WJW-TV said a preliminary report from the medical examiner's office found Walker sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, torso and legs, and that a weapon was recovered from a car by Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, though it did not specify which car.

Could have been more if they had more spare magazines.
his scumbag lawyer wondered how an "equipment violation" turned into a hail of gunfire... well that's all on the criminal.
Eventually, what he was wanted for will be released, but not after a couple of nights of urban wealth redistribution.
Was he zig zagging...
Sounds to me like a good reason for high-capacity mags...
Or more time at the range...
Sweet!
Serpentine, serpentine!

Another report said 12 hits out of 90 shots. If 90 shots were fired then the 60 to 80 hits figure is preposterous on its face. A moving figure at night. Cops on adrenalin. This 60 to 80 hits nonsense can only be believed by journalists and the folks it was meant to inflame.
If dead guy really got hit with 60 rounds while still upright, I wanna see the toxicology report. That guy must have been on something good.
Running is basically a “controlled fall.” A “normal” human being would drop after only a “few” hits and no longer be a viable target to shoot at.
Either this dude was *seriously* juiced up or the cops were still popping him after he was down.
From what I read they kept pumping bullets into him after he was down
Overkill. Unnecessary and bad PR.
Why were the officers running away from the black guy not once, but dozens of times? Who shot them?
Who writes these headlines?
80 hits out of 90 shots?
looks like the boys have been keep up on their range time
I read an article about this incident yesterday. That article emphasized that Walker was unarmed. There was no mention of him having any gun.
Reuters is now saying that Walker fired at the cops, and a gun was found in the car. It’s early, but the Reuter’s report makes sense, and is probably correct. The problem is that many folks will have read only that other article.
Lots of shots....
Please let us remember the illustrious Biden who last year advised the police should aim to hit the lower legs of armed assailants.
I’m sure he saw a lot of Gunsmoke and Efrem Zimbalist FBI shootings on TV but was not in squad cars on the scene as lives were at stake.
He opened fire on the cops, what did he think was going to happen?!?
