It was James and the Giant Peach. Tommy James did Crimson and Clover, Crystal Blue Persuasion, and many others. He was also on the Munsters.

I’m missing something here. Tommy James and the Shondells released “I Think We’re Alone Now” in 1967. Tommy James also recorded the hits you mention, and others as well.

“James and the Giant Peach” was a children’s book by Roald Dahl, and there were a couple of movies made from it. Was there a group by that name as well?
