The conservative coverage of this issue has been uniformly unprofessional, in ignoring the fast moving technological developments in what is known as “deep-fakes”. You have only to search for the topic “deepfake Obama”, view one or two videos, and you will know more than these reporters or commentators seem capable of realizing. We have had more than a century of something called “opinion formation” and “the manufacture of consent” effectively brainwashing billions of people into believing what powerful interests have decided they shall think and believe. Remember that dark ages are high-tech! (The Romans lacked stirrups that allowed central Asian raiders to use lances, and the Romans lacked deep-furrowing plows that allowed the Germanic inheritors of their domains to vastly increase arable acreage, yet those raiders and Germans were culturally in the Dark Ages, as we are with all our high-tech.)
