A 79-year-old says Roe v. Wade saved her life after she was raped months post the 1973 ruling

CNN)Kollene Dunn's abortion a few months after the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling saved her family, she said. Dunn learned she was pregnant from a date rape and her mind quickly raced to her two young children, she told CNN. The single mom realized she did not have the economic means to support a third child on her income as a secretary. "Roe v. Wade saved me and my two children," said the resident of Otis, Oregon. "My life would have been so different had I not been able to get a legal abortion."

Dunn, now 79, fears the economic impacts overturning Roe v. Wade will have on women who are already in tough economic situations, especially women of color, she said. On top of economic hardships, Black women are three times more likely than White women to die of pregnancy-related complications, according to the CDC.

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday in its most consequential decision in decades. The move will change women's reproductive rights in the United States, leaving the decision up to each state, unless Congress acts.

"This is an earthquake that's happening to our society, and it didn't need to happen," Dunn said Friday afternoon, reading the ruling on her laptop in her living room.

I won't doubt she was raped, date rape happened back then too. What troubles me is she is saying adoption didn't exist back then too? Considering Norma McCorvey gave Baby Roe up for adoption?

Leave it to CNN to roll out the victims…right on cue.

"My life would have been so different had I not been able to get a legal abortion."

Yeah, we all understand what an inconvenience it would have been for you to carry the child to term (and then possibly give the baby up for adoption)!

The child's life would have also been quite different, no doubt.

Regards,

Continued Leftist uses and abuses of victimhood for political manipulation and narrative. Nothing new. Next they will start pulling stories up from 50 years ago about back-alley abortions, etc. Oh wait, my bad.

Yep, right on cue. Expect thousands more. Didn’t any of them ever consider using birth control, or how about the most effective one of all? Abstinence. Works every time.

I wonder how many women are sitting all alone in their rooms at the nursing home with nobody to come visit them and thinking “My life would have been so different if I hadn’t had an abortion. Maybe I could have stayed at home with my child looking in on me every other day? Maybe I would have my own room at their house?”

Exactly. She is essentially claiming that abortion saved her family...by killing a family member, a step sibling of her two children. Not to mention, breast milk flows would flow just as readily for this baby as for her previous ones, so the baby would not be taking food from her existing children. And there were even more churches then with charitable resources for mothers that decide to keep their babies, and which would help with adoption if she had gone that route. Problem is, in the case of a terrible violation like a rape, there is naturally going to be rage at the rapist, but it can be directed at the innocent child as well, because of the unwanted obligations take away the woman-s liberty, at least until it is adopted, and for 18 years if the child is kept, during which the child is a constant humiliating reminder of the criminal act. It is a rare person who can recognize the child is a gift of God, the only good thing that comes from a rape, and if nurtured, loved, and raised properly, will be a blessing in the woman’s life, through old age.

The act of abortion in the case of rape or even after an argument, is often revenge, not economic concerns. The child is seen as a parasite, wholly the spawn of the rapist, rather than as one’s own offspring, even though he or she is in fact the victim’s offspring. Part of that attitude in old times came from our culture treating bastards as if they are inferior, or tainted, as if it is their fault the Dad isn’t in the picture. Instead of shaming the rapist, society shamed the victims of the rape, both woman and child.

There are two sides to every story, and a person will never know the truth if they only listen to one side. That’s CNN, and all the rest of the MSM. Truth is what they fear. How many stories are there of women who regret their abortions? I’ll bet it’s a lot more than think it “saved their life”.

So now economic hardship counts as a threat to the life of the mother?

Would ANY of us be here without “getting pregnant via rape”?

“On top of economic hardships, Black women are three times more likely than White women to die of pregnancy-related complications, according to the CDC.”

Antiquated and voodoo pregnancy advise continues among black American women.

The first advise I heard was to consume lots of starch—right from the box.

I know the lady who stood on the side of the road at a pro-life demonstration regretted hers. Although many years had passed since her decision, the look on her face when she mentioned her abortion was full of sorrow.

The absence of Roe v Wade and no easy access to time travel might have saved my life after my mom came to realize what a pain in the neck I would become in my teenage years.

Since it’s apparently racist to stop abortions, maybe we should see how allowing only colored women to get abortions legally goes over…

Maybe an ad campaign, “The US needs fewer blacks, kill your baby today LaQuiesha…”
