“...no gates not even flashing lights for a warning. The road just goes across the tracks.”
My son and I have a deer lease in rural OK where we have to cross the BNSF Transcon tracks with no marking beyond cross-bucks and a Stop sign. Since our lease is about a mile away from that crossing, we can hear the amount of rail traffic carried on that line so we’ve learned to carefully approach the crossing because the sight-lines are restricted by the angle of the crossing plus trees on both sides of the track. If we were crossing those rails on a daily basis, it might become easy to be complacent rather than careful.
“sight-lines are restricted by the angle of the crossing plus trees on both sides of the track”
Exactly what was being said about this crossing...almost word for word.
